A undoubted masterpiece in the free jazz cannon, Howard's The Black Ark still sounds as fresh and innovative as it did when recorded in 1969.  There are head exploding moments for sure, some so heavy you think you have opened up some hidden portal to the abyss, yet it's infused with some Latin grooves, some old school Blue Note vibes, both as welcome as they are unexpected. If you have ANY interest in discovering more left field, freer music this record is an absolute must!
